The History of The Girl Scout Cookies Strain at Santa Ana Cookies

Almost everyone who smokes or uses cannabis products knows of Girl Scout Cookies – and no, we’re not talking about the ones you go to munch on after you’ve smoked. We’re referring to one of the most popular and well-loved strains of Marijuana to exist. But where did this amazing strain come from, what’s its history, and what should you know about it before trying it for the first time? Continue to find out!

Where Did It All Begin?

Girl Scout Cookies (often referred to by its initials, GSC) is a hybrid strain that originated in a garage in the Sunset District of the San Francisco Bay Area. It was bred by an underground group collectively known as the Cookie Family. While the Cookie Fam is pretty protective of their proprietary genetics, and understandably so considering how popular their GSC strain has become, the Girl Scout Cookies genetics have been explained as being a mix of Durban Poison, with an influence from their secret F1 strain, combined with OG Kush.

So, Who Is The Cookie Family?

Gilbert Anthony Milam Jr. (aka Berner) and Jai (“Jigga”) founded Cookies in 2010 and are the original cultivators of Girl Scout Cookies. Both San Francisco natives two began breeding and growing plants utilizing the knowledge passed down to them from their family members before them and popular magazine articles. Jigga is the original geneticist behind this amazing strain.

What Does GSC Look Like?

The Girl Scout Cookies plant is known to grow tall and slender and often benefits from a little extra love and attention. It is not known, however, for large cultivation yields.

The Flower

GSC has an incredibly pungent and strong aroma – reminiscent of musky pine, sweet cherries, and chocolate. It is renowned for its beauty, with its distinctive twisting, bright green calyxes, wrapped up with deep purple leaves and blazing orange hairs.

How Does It Taste?

Those who have smoked Girl Scout Cookies will tell you how incredibly delicious and unique this strain truly is. Aptly named, GSC is most often recounted as tasting sweet, with an underlying mintiness to it. Others describe it as tasting delightfully earthy, with bold notes of cherry and lemon.

Effects

Girl Scout Cookies are a great strain to go for if you are looking for a boost of energy, that wonderful feeling of blissful euphoria, or simply just to relax. Since it is a hybrid strain, it truly offers the best of both worlds; it is both uplifting and relaxing.
